About Sensory Safari TT
“I’m sorry.”
I found myself saying that far too often whenever I took my son, Luka, out to play. Luka is completely blind—but like any other child, he loves to move, swing, climb, and explore. Unfortunately, there was nowhere in Trinidad & Tobago that truly allowed that.

Every space we tried was either visually overwhelming, arcade-driven, or simply inaccessible for a child like him. Outdoor parks were limited, indoor play areas were chaotic, loud, and poorly designed for functional movement, and even when Luka tried to enjoy himself, the experience was never quite right. Most times, it ended in frustration, meltdowns, and me apologizing to strangers.
But I noticed something: whenever he got the chance to move—to jump, swing, or run—he was happiest.
It was during our travels abroad that I stumbled upon an incredible indoor sensory space. The moment Luka entered, he was free—free to explore, play, and engage his body in ways that didn’t overwhelm him. He was smiling, laughing, truly alive. On another trip, I brought my autistic sister to that same space, and her joy was just as radiant. That’s when I knew—this was something Trinidad needed.
I couldn’t stop thinking: why don’t we have this back home?
So, I made it my mission to create it—a space that would be inclusive to all abilities, not just one specific group. A space where no one needs to apologize for how their child plays, moves, or expresses themselves. A space where typical families could learn empathy, patience, and inclusion by simply sharing the same play space.
As a single mom, running a business already, and navigating the challenges of raising a child with unique needs—I had no idea how I was going to pull it off. But I reminded myself: where there’s a will, there’s a way.
And so, in November 2025, I proudly opened the doors to Sensory Safari TT, located in Cocorite on the Western Main Road, Trinidad & Tobago.
We designed Sensory Safari TT to be an adventure in movement, play, and discovery:
-
Suspended swings for balance and vestibular input
-
Crash mats and crash pillows for safe exploration
-
Ziplines and tunnels to spark adventure and build coordination
-
Trampolines for strength and fun
-
Climbing structures to develop confidence and playground skills
-
Fine motor play stations and sensory-based toys
-
A calming snoezelen-style room and cozy reading nook
-
Arts & crafts areas for creative expression
-
A small café with finger foods, because parents deserve a breather too
Sensory Safari TT is more than just a gym—it’s a movement towards inclusion, awareness, and acceptance. It’s a space where therapists can work dynamically with children, schools can visit to broaden their understanding, and families can come together without fear of judgment.
It’s also a place where typical kids can have an absolute blast playing alongside differently-abled children—breaking down barriers, building friendships, and naturally learning how to engage with kids who experience the world differently. So the next time they meet someone who flaps, spins, squeals, or moves differently—there are no stares, no awkwardness, just understanding.
Because the more we play together, the more inclusive our society becomes.
Most of all, we’re a space where no parent has to say “I’m sorry.”
Welcome to Sensory Safari TT—where every child is welcome, every family is understood, and every visit is an adventure.
